After Escher
Michael McGill
four micro poems
After Escher
On a sunlit sheet
of paper I return
to the Annexe
where,
as children,
we climbed
towards Art;
ascending
towards History.
Three Haiku
Peeping Tom
Privacy on strings;
puppets shading from daylight;
drawn Venetian blinds.
Thursday
(for Dr. Margaret McCollum and Oswald Laurence)
On the Embankment,
the silence between Tube trains;
a widow, waiting.
Obituary
Archivists filing
memories in sepia;
a life, A-Z.
