Final Affairs
We found budgie dust in
the piano, silver fish in
the bathroom, and
letters written in Polish
from during the war
kept in an old Cerebos salt tin
when her house
was cleared out.
When did they stop
Publishing ‘The Listener’?
and who the hell is Frank Ifield?
that was where she sat,
amongst the balls of wools
and Rowntrees fruit pastilles.
during her last few days,
until the carers came and went.
A Fresh Dawn
A moss crowned bank
In the morning glows
With the collective will
Of the wee primrose
