In the land of the brave,
The probe enters and does not
Come out.
History sticks,
Trapped inside
Cavities of melting molasses.
Soil dissolves into rhythmic feet.
Mouths harvest the undead.
Brown sugar dances over saints
Resuscitated in sacred waves of heat
To summon death as an escape.

Faith Brown, born and raised in the Bronx, is a writer and MFA student pursuing a degree in creative writing--poetry. She enjoys horror movies and psychological thrillers entirely too much. Recently published in Bx Writers Anthology Vol.1, she hopes to teach others how to find their voice through creative writing.
